Now, Instagram is looking to give IGTV a boost with a new feature: landscape video. The said capability has always been requested by numerous users who find it inconvenient to view their favorite videos with the platform's vertical video format. Since it launched a year ago, IGTV has been exclusively dedicated to vertical videos but this new change will be a welcome to creators who are playing around with this platform.
Bold, because, as the company co-founder Kevin Systrom reportedly said, "Instagram took a stand and tried a brand new thing that is frankly hard to pull off". Another report earlier this week revealed that Instagram's IGTV feature is going through some drastic design overhaul, with a simpler UI and single feed of content suggested by algorithms.
Taking the tongue out of my cheek, while the vertical video format does have its advantages for viewing social content shot in portrait mode, Horizontal video is much better for all kinds of content and provides a wider field of view on your screen. However, the social networking service noted that the update to IGTV is the result of users' feedback who has been requesting to watch the videos in the platform in a normal and natural way. This time something new has arrived for people using Instagram's IGTV platform. Instagram believes the expansion will enable enhanced creativity and a rise in engagement.

Instagram's video platform turns a year old in June. And with a billion users on its platform - and 2.38 billion on parent company Facebook's network - it most definitely does have the scale to raise awareness of IGTV content.
