A US Coast Guard update Monday night said four people were confirmed dead and two were still missing, but Princess said five people were killed.
"For privacy reasons we are unable to provide further information", DFAT spokesperson said in a statement.
Work at the crash site will now shift to an investigation into what led the two planes, which were ferrying Princess Cruises passengers on sightseeing expeditions, to strike each other and fall into the waters of George Inlet.
"Princess Cruises is extending its full support to traveling companions of the guests involved".
Global Affairs Canada confirmed the Canadian fatality on Tuesday morning.
The Coast Guard said four people died in the collision near Ketchikan, a popular destination for cruise ships.

The passengers were from the cruise ship Royal Princess and were on sightseeing flights, one of which was operated by flightseeing company Taquan Air. The flight was returning from a Misty Fjords tour carrying 10 passengers from Royal Princess and a pilot.
One plane, an independently-operated de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver, was carrying a pilot and four guests. "They were found deceased", said US Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Matthew Schofield.
