A disturbing story out of Germany, where five people-three of them hotel guests who were impaled by crossbow bolts-have been found dead.
A forensic officer outside the apartment building in northern Germany, where the two fresh bodies were found. Police said the three victims found on Saturday, were a 53-year-old man and two women aged 33 and 30, all of them German citizens.
Hotel staff in Passau had on Saturday discovered the three dead Germans in their room around noon alongside two crossbows. The man and the older woman are from the village of Berod in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in southwestern Germany, while the younger woman was last registered as living in Wittingen.
The gruesome discovery came as detectives probed the mysterious deaths of a man and two women who were discovered on Sunday in the Bavarian town of Passau close to the Austrian border.
When the maid first looked into the second floor room, she thought the figure on the bed was a doll and called a colleague to help push the door open.

They were planning to stay there for three nights before they were found on Saturday at around midday.
A hotel guest said the man had a long white beard and the women were dressed in black, and described them as "strange".
"We assume that no other people were involved in the deaths of the three", Gaisbauer told The Associated Press, adding that autopsy results were expected Tuesday.
Though it is hard to buy firearms in Germany, anyone who is over the age of eighteen can legally buy a crossbow.
