The Seattle Storm's Breanna Stewart suffered a possible Achilles injury during the EuroLeague Final Four championship in Hungary Sunday, sparking fears that the WNBA's star player may be out for the season. She flew to Los Angeles where test results confirmed the injury. There were rumors on Twitter about a torn Achilles, according to WNBAinsidr.
Stewart, 24, is entering her fourth season in the WNBA. "This is just another obstacle that I will overcome".
Video of the apparent injury shows Stewart landing on the foot of fellow WNBA star Brittney Griner, who plays for UMMC Ekaterinburg, another Russian team, in the first half. Stewart immediately grabbed at her right leg and appeared to be in pain. "The Storm family is behind her and we will support Stewie in every way we can as she begins her journey back to the court".
