In dark rural areas where the moon is not lit, skywatchers would be able to see around 10 to 20 meteors each hour during the Lyrid meteor shower's peak. This meteor shower is easier to see in the Northern Hemisphere because that part of the sky is high above the horizon before dawn, although you can see a lower rate from the Southern Hemisphere.
The meteors appear to emanate from the constellation Lyra the Harp, near the bright star Vega, which rises in late evening and passes almost overhead shortly before dawn, the magazine said.
The first major meteor shower in 2019 will occur on the night of April 21-22.
Increasing cloud cover and rain by daybreak will hinder our chances. Up to 18 meteors are expected per hour, but the brightness from the full moon may make them less visible. The peak of the shower will be on Monday, April 22.
However, the statement also points out that the moon will rise over the Qatar sky at 9.06pm Monday and the moonlight is likely to impact the viewing of the meteor shower this year.

The Lyrid showers also tend to produce outbursts of up to 100 meteors per hour, but those outbursts are hard to predict.
Come prepared with a sleeping bag, blanket or lawn chair. As it stands, we could see some showers and storms overnight and into the morning.
The Lyrids' source, the Comet Thatcher, orbits the sun every 415 years, but Earth passes through its path every year during the springtime.
Lie flat on your back with your feet facing east and look up, taking in as much of the sky as possible. "Its glare will drown out all but the brightest Lyrids".
