Google has announced some new features and abilities available to Google Home device owners, including the option to have Assistant gently wake you up using light from a connected Philips Hue smart light. At night, the gradual change of light is meant to improve the quality of your sleep.
The Google Home Hub and Pixel smartphones both support a gentle wake-up feature that gradually brighten the display in anticipation for the alarm going off. However, it is worth noting here that you need to speak the Gentle Wake Up command on the same Google Home device on which you set your alarms on.
A simulated sunrise is a much gentler way to start your day than an alarm, but a good quality wake-up light can cost well over $100. To pair this feature with your daily morning alarms, you will have to say "Hey Google, turn on Gentle Wake up". Alternatively, you can summon your voice assistant to ask it to "wake up my lights in the bedroom" at a certain time on any given day (with up to a 24-hour advance notice) and you can also say "Hey Google, sleep the lights in the living room" to initiate the 30-minute dimming sequence immediately or at a future hour. Depressing. Maybe I should try this.

Father fights off dingo after toddler attacked in caravan

Gentle Wakeup is now available in the US, UK, Australia, Singapore and India, and works in English only, but hopefully more languages and territories will be coming soon. Moreover, Google Home devices can also read out audiobooks for you once you say, "Hey Google, ready my book". You can also programme the command for up to 24 hours in advance.
The announcements are part of Google's "Spring into healthy habits" story, which (given the timing) coincides with the northern Spring, unlike us on the way into the southern Autumn (and nearly winter).
