Sydney Paige Monfries, 22, from Portland, Oregon, suffered fatal injuries following the horror plunge at Fordham University campus in NY, weeks before graduation.
Christopher Rodgers, dean of students at Rose Hill, told The Ram in 2013 that since "the clock tower is rather risky, and therefore secured area of campus, students would likely face disciplinary action if they entered it". University staff are investigating how the group gained access to the tower.
University officials said Monfries died after losing her footing and falling some 30 feet onto a landing below.
Students confirmed it has become "a rite of passage" to climb the clock tower, touch the bell and take pictures before they graduate from the university.
A Fordham University student was critically injured Sunday after falling from a clock tower, according to a statement from the NY university.
