The Clippers coach has been linked to the other job in Los Angeles, but he said on Tuesday there was "no truth" to those reports. The contract hasn't been finalized yet - Ballmer said they're still "dotting some I's and crossing some T's" - but Rivers was pretty definitive about his future. The climate around the Lakers is obviously at it's most negative and much of it is due to everything surrounding LeBron James from bad optics, trade rumors, bad management, and the list goes on.
Ballmer, in a pregame interview, praised the job Rivers has done over the last two seasons, helping shepherd the team out of the "Lob City" era while still competing for a playoff spot without sacrificing the flexibility to bring in multiple max-contract players this summer. We thought this was the right fit, but we wanted to make sure.
