The continuing controversy over Allen's past apparently convinced Amazon to scrap the release of A Rainy Day in NY in any form, prompting Allen's breach of contract lawsuit, which was filed in a NY federal court. Timothée Chalamet, who worked with Allen on Rainy Day in NY (the film Amazon is now not letting see the light of day), has promised his salary from the film to charity after working with Allen.
According to a lawsuit filed on Thursday in New York, Allen claims Amazon backed out of the deal in June 2018 because of an old accusation that the director had molested his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow in 1992.
Woody Allen is gearing up for serious litigation against Amazon Studios, claims a report from Fox News. Allen said executives had met with him in December 2017 to discuss the "negative publicity and reputational harm" stemming from those claims and the studio's association with Harvey Weinstein but agreed to proceed with the release of "Rainy Day". Allen has steadfastly denied the allegations.
Woody Allen may have struck a deal with Amazon last August to distribute his new film A Rainy Day in NY, but their relationship has quickly turned tempestuous. Then, in June 2018, Ajay Patel, associate general counsel, Amazon Studios and movies & TV, sent an email canceling the deal, saying "Amazon can not continue in business with Mr. Allen".

Director Woody Allen is suing Amazon for $68 million.
Allen says Amazon sought to terminate the deal in June, and has since refused to pay him $9 million in financing for his latest film, "A Rainy Day in NY", his lawyers at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan allege.
Amazon released Allen's past two films, 2017's Wonder Wheel and 2016's Café Society.
He is seeking that $9 million along with minimum guarantees owed him for other films, totaling "in excess of $68,000,000", according to a complaint filed Thursday in federal court in NY and obtained by AFP.
