Microsoft discovers hacking targeting democratic institutions in Europe
It is free for Office 365 users, and Microsoft says it will roll out the service to other European countries in the coming months. Microsoft said it discovered the hacking through its Threat Intelligence Center and Digital Crimes Unit.
According to the police, Smollett staged the attack because he was unsatisfied with his $1 million salary.
The 36-year-old was charged Wednesday with felony disorderly conduct, a charge that could bring up to three years in prison and force the actor to pay for the cost of the investigation into his report of a January 29 beating.
Johnson said the attack "was staged, the brothers had on gloves during the (air quotes) "staged attack" where they punched him a little, but as far as we can tell, the scratching and bruising that you saw on [Smollett's] face was most likely self-inflicted". He said the masked men beat him, made derogatory comments and yelled "This is MAGA country" _ an apparent reference to President Donald Trump's campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again" - before fleeing. The police chief said the news media relied entirely on Smollett's account and shoveled blame, without evidence, on Trump supporters and the president. However, when he showed up, he was with his family and in a deeply emotional state.
Police say the plot began when a letter he allegedly mailed himself which called him a "f*g" did not get enough attention.
On Wednesday his lawyers said they would "mount an aggressive defence".
He drove them home, wrote a check to one of the brothers for $3,500 and flew to NY, prosecutors said.
The president tweeted his condemnation after the police news conference, slamming Mr Smollett's "racist and unsafe comments".
