Google has big plans for 2019. In addition to the already known, upcoming, cheaper Pixel "Lite," Nikkei is reporting that Google plans to release its own wearables (plural), a Google Home refresh, and security cameras this year. Google also experimented with Android One platform for entry-level phones in India.
Google is not a new player in the hardware market.
Google is all set to launch its "lower-priced" smartphone this year, according to a media report. The list includes Google Pixel watch at the top spot.
After relying on a premium lineup of smartphones until now, today's new corroborates previous rumors of a cheaper Google Pixel that will target price-sensitive customers.
Consumer Inflation At 2.05% In January, Lowest Since June 2017
The consumer price index fell to 1.8% in January , from 2.1% previously, when economists had looked for a decline to only 1.9%. "This reflected the imposition of a new cap on Standard Variable Tariffs, which was 6% below prior average levels".
RIP Opportunity: NASA Declares Mars Rover Dead After 15-Year Run

Lady Gaga defends Cardi B's Grammy win

Finally, Strategy Analytics declared the Pixel 3 in particular is "starting to resonate" with U.S. customers that are "searching for something new, such as eSIM connectivity or AI". But the company recently acquired tech from watch maker Fossil, so it makes sense we'd see something come out of that deal this year, especially given Apple's big lead in the smartwatch market with the Apple Watch.
Google Pixel 3 was announced back in October and presented Android fans with a number of notable improvements from its predecessor.
Further, the Search giant is also coming up with new smart speakers. It's possible this could be accompanied with a rebranding effort making it more overtly Googly (i.e., "Nest by Google", etc.) but that wouldn't have to be the case for the report to be correct.
Google will, the sources claim, aim to launch its Google Pixel Lite at a price point much lower than Apple's least expensive iPhone in a bid to convince on-the-fence buyers over to its ecosystem. It is unclear whether this means an entirely new speaker or just updated specs to the old one but we expect Google to bring an entirely new speaker with the same design cues as the original. The company is also expected to introduce new web cameras. According to a Nikkei report, the smartphone will help the company its hardware portfolio.
