It's a total lunar eclipse, also known as a "super moon" and will last for an unusually long time, approximately three hours.
While the eclipse will already be happening by the time the moon rises for some residents of Alaska and Hawaii, people in the rest of the country will have a chance to see every stage of the event, depending on local weather conditions.
The blood moon part happens when the bright moon creeps directly through the Earth's shadow, causing it to turn to gold, copper or even a dark red.
As for the "wolf" part of the name, this lunar eclipse happens to coincide with the wolf moon, which is the name that has been traditionally given to the full moon experienced in the month of January.
Astronomers and skygazers are particularly interested in this year's Super Blood Wolf Moon, as it is the last of its kind for two years.
The next total lunar eclipse visible from Earth will occur on May 26, 2021.
If the skies are clear, the entire eclipse will also be visible in North and South America, as well as Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Portugal and the French and Spanish coasts. This Sunday night, January 20, there will be another celestial phenomenon: a total lunar eclipse.
On Sunday night, a total lunar eclipse will bathe a supermoon in glowing deep red hues.

Unlike a solar eclipse (unless you are Donald Trump), the lunar eclipses were perfectly safe to watch without any special glasses. See, the Moon doesn't revolve around Earth in a ideal circle, but more of an ellipse.

Fazekas said it will be fairly easy for Canadians to stay up and watch the total lunar eclipse this year.
As for the timing, the total eclipse will last almost three-and-a-half hours beginning at approximately 10:30 p.m. EST on Sunday.
Dr Brunsden, who is director of the university's Astrocampus, said: "In the early hours of Monday morning the full moon will be quietly changing". The only light reaching Earthling eyes is sunlight refracted by our atmosphere, producing a reddish color. That's when things get juicy, because it will look like half of the Moon has disappeared.
The peak of the event will take place at 1:12 a.m.
Here are some common beliefs regarding what to eat: Raw fruits and vegetables: The powerful rays radiated during a lunar eclipse can harm cooked food.
