Las Vegas authorities have issued a warrant for soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo's DNA in connection with a rape investigation, the Wall Street Journal reports on Thursday.
The warrant was reportedly sent to Italy where Ronaldo now plays for Juventus.
Former school teacher Kathryn Mayorga claims that the Portuguese forward raped her at his Las Vegas hotel room in June 2009 and since going public with her case a year ago, Ronaldo has faced intense scrutiny.
The police case was closed in 2009 when the alleged victim, Kathryn Mayorga, declined to name her assailant.
Ronaldo, 24, met Mayorga in the Rain nightclub at the Palms Casino resort, and invited her to his suite for the night.
The player has continuously dismissed the allegations and his lawyer insisted the warrant for a DNA sample is normal procedure.
The security agency also added that the warrant has been sent to the Italian court system, adding: "We can confirm that an official request has been submitted to Italian authorities".

Ronaldo's lawyer, Peter Christiansen, maintains that a rape did not happen and that it was "a mutual agreement".
Her attorney could not immediately be reached for comment, but in the past said the agreement should be made null and void because it was made when she was suffering from extreme psychological duress. Mayorga alleges Ronaldo and his team coerced her into signing despite her emotional state.
The Italian justice ministry, Turin police and the USA embassy in Rome had no immediate comment.
Ronaldo has repeatedly denied the allegation, calling it "fake news" and claiming they had consensual sex.
Jasmine Lennard, an English model and actress, posted on her Twitter account that she has years worth of messages that would back up her claims that Ronaldo was abusive, and unrepentant about his behavior, towards her and other women.
