HTC has announced a virtual reality headset at CES 2019. The Vive Pro Eye's standout feature is eye-tracking technology which will offer numerous benefits to VR gamers as well as enterprise customers. The Vive Pro employs what HTC calls "foveated rendering", a technology which efficiently allocates the GPU power for better image rendering and an overall sharper visual output.
The first collaboration is with Mozilla, with HTC Vive announcing that Firefox Reality will now become the default web browser across the product range, including Vive Pro and the upcoming Vive Cosmos.
To the user, it's fine if a VR announcement doesn't apply to them at the moment.
'We found that over 85 percent of VR intenders believe that ease of use and set up is the most important factor to consider while purchasing a headset, ' claims HTC Vive's Daniel O'Brien, focusing on the confirmation that the Vice Cosmos won't require any external tracking base stations. The headset has an easy flip up design so you can effortless transition between the real and virtual worlds.

Similar to other Vive headsets, Cosmos can be powered by a gaming PC. I got to try out the game myself and the eye tracking worked pretty much as expected, though it was only available with the in-game menus - the gameplay itself still required a controller, which in this case was mounted on a plastic bat. The company created this as a headset that can be used anywhere.
The motion controllers have been redesigned and now resemble the Oculus Touch more than the previous generation Vive wands. Lockheed Martin is using the Vive Pro Eye to help train student pilots, for example. For example, the VR software Lockheed Martin uses to train new pilots will use eye tracking to examine reaction times and focus. The all new pixel-packed real RGB displays with minimal screen door effect delivers crystal clear graphics bringing every detail in VR alive.
Announced by HTC stalwart Drew Bamford, who's now VP of Creative Labs within the brand, it promises to be the next step in virtual reality in terms of getting access to VR on the go - but right now, that's a mysterious promise.
