Moreover, the member of the Chromium team, of course, Kasting himself had already submitted in May 2018 a report complaining about the lack of support for this mode of operation in Chrome for Windows 10, claiming that the system itself allows users to configure some of their applications in clear mode or dark, and Chrome should respect this. The news annoyed many users over this preferential treatment.
Chrome developer Peter Kasting has stated that a "native dark mode" is being developed and will initially be available for desktop users only.
As you'll note, this is not to be taken as an indicator for Android or iOS, which is a pain, as that's where it'll be the most use - not least of all because Dark Mode is a great way to boost battery life - the lighter the palette, the more pixels have to light up. File Explorer, and some third-party applications such as Mozilla Firefox will abide by it. Windows 10 comes with no exception.
This is in no way final as the Google Chrome Dark Mode hasn't even arrived on Chrome stable or beta yet.

The interface looks like this when done. Many internal pages, e.g. chrome://extensions/, are not painted in darker colors either at this point in development.
The obsession around Dark Mode continues, as in the last few days we have heard about nothing but the upcoming dark side of Google Chrome. This can mean anything, so there's a chance that the dark theme becomes available with the next Chrome release or Google can hold it back until a different update goes live, just to make sure everything is working smoothly. The flag is now available in Chrome 73 on Canary and Developer version but works only on Canary build. To return to the light theme, remove the aforementioned parameter from the Target field in the shortcut Properties screen.
Now You: Do you prefer light or dark themes?
