Epic Games took notice of the bug thanks to the many complaints posted by players on social media and the official Fortnite threads of Epic Games forums. Most popular free-to-play games with a massive player base rely on microtransactions to help them make money.
"These flaws provided the ability for a massive invasion of privacy", said Oded Vanunu, head of products vulnerability research for Check Point, who found they were able to access target accounts.
The popular online game "Fortnite" is a worldwide sensation drawing in tens of millions of users each month.
"It seems that Epic Games is in no way suppresses criminal activity connected with Fortnite". "As always, we encourage players to protect their accounts by not re-using passwords and using strong passwords, and not sharing account information with others".
The Verge, however, pointed out that although 2018 turns out to be a huge year for Epic Games, it shouldn't be surprising.
