The military said the three men attempted to approach an "area of technological work" in an enclave north of the security fence, as the IDF continues Operation Northern Shield to destroy Hezbollah attack tunnels dug under the border. It does appear to be a concrete warning to the residents to leave their homes immediately, nor does it follow army protocol for such a warning.
Conricus said on Saturday that the army had placed explosives in the newly exposed tunnel to prevent its use as a means to infiltrate Israel, but had not yet destroyed it.
"We placed explosives inside the tunnel to make sure it can not be used to infiltrate into Israel", Conricus told reporters, adding the tunnels were designed "to allow elite terrorists to enter Israel and to attack Israel civilians and Israeli targets".
The photos, released Sunday afternoon, are said to show IDF troops operating near Meiss Ej Jabal village, situated along Lebanon's southeastern border with Israel.
Hezbollah-affiliated al-Manar TV station correspondent Ali Shoaib snapped images from the area, and published video footage of Israeli troops interacting with United Nations forces.
"The tunnel crosses into Israel; like the first tunnel it is not yet operational and does not pose an imminent threat to Israeli communities", he said in a briefing with journalists, according to AFP.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the operation will go on for as long as needed, and called on the global community to respond to the attack tunnels by imposing additional sanctions on Hezbollah.
"I told the ambassadors that they need to unequivocally condemn this aggression against us by Iran, by Hezbollah and by Hamas, and of course, to also strengthen the sanctions against these elements", Netanyahu told foreign ambassadors on a tour of the border on Thursday.
Netanyahu also said he will demand the UN Security Council discuss the matter.
Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem told Iranian Arabic-language newspaper al-Vefagh that the Iran-backed Shiite militant group's missiles served as a deterrent against Israel going to war in Lebanon, where Hezbollah is based.
So far the Israel-Lebanon border has remained largely quiet but there are fears of escalation.
