In a tweet Saturday, apparently referring to Judy Munro-Leighton, the president said a vicious accuser of Justice Kavanaugh has just admitted she was lying, and added her story was totally made up or fake.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, on Friday referred a woman who made false allegations of sexual assault against Brett Kavanaugh to the Department of Justice and the FBI for investigation.
"Committee investigators were able to determine that she is a left-wing activist, is decades older than Judge Kavanaugh, and lives in neither the Washington D.C. area nor California, but in Kentucky", Sen.
He vehemently denied all of the claims.
The letter from Grassley marks the fourth request for a federal investigation into people involved in the Kavanaugh proceedings - including Julie Swetnick, who accused Kavanaugh of attending parties where women were gang-raped, her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, and a man who hasn't been publicly identified.
The accusation from the anonymous letter was one of many that were leveled against Kavanaugh, who would eventually replace Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court.
Subsequently, Committee investigators began looking into Munro-Leighton's allegations.

Kavanaugh's confirmation in October was complicated by several allegations of sexual misconduct, including by California psychology professor Christine Blasey Ford referring to the alleged misconduct during their college years. Kavanaugh was asked about the allegations in an interview with investigators, where the future Justice called the allegations a "crock" and a "farce".
Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) forwarded a letter from a "Jane Doe" to Committee investigators, claiming that Kavanaugh and a friend had raped her "several times each" in the "backseat of a vehicle". She also told investigators the whole thing was a tactic and a ploy to oppose Kavanaugh's nomination.
Justice Kavanaugh's confirmation process was delayed while the committee investigated a number of sexual assault and harassment claims, none of which have been corroborated by any public evidence to date.
"In short, during the Committee's time-sensitive investigation of allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, Ms. Munro-Leighton submitted a fabricated allegation, which diverted Committee resources."They tried again on October 29, leaving a voicemail.
She then included a typed version of the Jane Doe letter. I read the transcript of the call to your Committee ... According to Newsweek, she later recanted her statement and said she had made it up for attention.
Kavanaugh, who has served since being confirmed early last month, will have his formal investiture ceremony, which has often been followed by a walk - and photo opportunity - on the front steps with the chief justice, in this case John Roberts.
