Cowboys legend Troy Aikman called for huge changes to the organization, saying that pinning the blame exclusively on Garrett might be missing the true cause of the franchise's struggles in the recent past.
The Cowboys can begin negotiations with Prescott after this season or wait until after the 2019 campaign. So Aikman, who is all too aware of that fact, is calling for sweeping organizational changes while knowing full well that won't happen because Jones will not fire himself. "Go through the list and this team, over a long period of time, has been what it's been", Aikman said. And that may actually be the one thing that will force the owner and his front office to make the hard changes required to turn this team around. "It hasnt always mattered who the head coach has been".
Jerry Jones confirmed Dak Prescott remains the quarterback of Dak Prescott. FOX broadcaster and former Dallas quarterback Troy Aikman appeared on 1310 The Ticket Tuesday to call for a complete overhaul within the organization. Nonetheless, Jones said he thinks Prescott and Dallas is "completely capable" of performing at a high level.
Garrett might be gone after the 2018 season, but he's not going anywhere during the regular season. The entire Cowboys organization can't be blind to the fact that running out this same coaching staff with Prescott under center in 2019 is a punt on an entire season, a stark contrast from their win-now approach with Prescott in 2016 and most of 2017.

The Hall of Famer said he feels Dallas needs to press the franchise restart button, even suggesting a "complete overhaul", a day after the Cowboys endured an ugly 28-14 loss against the Titans on Monday night. "And that to me is the bigger issue".
Next up for the Cowboys is a hard five-game stretch that includes two matchups against the Eagles as well as games against the Redskins, Falcons, and Saints. "Nothing changes", he said.
