A pro-government Turkish newspaper is reporting that a member of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's entourage made four calls to the royal's office from the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul the day Jamal Khashoggi was killed.
Turkish media reports and officials say a 15-member Saudi team flew to Istanbul, laid in wait for Khashoggi at the consulate and then cut off his fingers, killed and dismembered him.
In that interview, al-Jubeir described the death of Khashoggi as "a grave mistake" and said that those responsible will be held to account.
Videos have emerged of a Saudi suspected of being behind Jamal Khashoggi's murder walking around Istanbul in the journalist's clothes shortly after he was last seen.
Saudi authorities have said Khashoggi died in an "altercation" with Saudi officials at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2.
The murder has sparked global outcry, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel vowing on Sunday to suspend arms exports to Riyadh until uncertainty over the fate of Khashoggi vanishes.
The announcement on Sunday by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that he will "go into detail" about the Khashoggi case in a speech in parliament heightened hopes for some clarity in a case that has been shrouded in mystery, conflicting accounts and shocking allegations since Khashoggi, a critic of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, disappeared after entering the consulate on October 2.

Four hours before the killing, al-Madani was seen entering the consulate building beardless, wearing a blue and white checked shirt and dark blue pants but, moments after the incident, al-Madani can be seen wearing what appears to be Khashoggi's own dark blazer, open-collared grey shirt and pants. South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday "I find it impossible to believe that the Crown Prince was not involved".
The state-run broadcaster TRT later also reported that a man who entered the consulate building was seen leaving the building in Khashoggi's clothes.
"The individuals who did this did this outside the scope of their authority", he said. "But Saudi Arabia is a very responsible country, for decades we used our oil policy as a responsible economic tool and isolated it from politics", Falih said.
But after a Turkish media report claiming Khashoggi's Apple Watch may have captured gruesome audio of him being tortured, drugged, killed and later dismembered, the Saudi government finally admitted the journalist was dead. If the supply gap created by disruption in Libya, Nigeria, Venezuela - as well as US sanctions against Iran - were to grow as large as 3 million barrels a day, Saudi Arabia would need to tap its oil reserves, he said.
Turkey's president says he will announce details of the Turkish investigation into the death of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi's on Tuesday. Bob Corker, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, believes that sanctions are good, but NOT great.
They said: "Nothing can justify this killing and we condemn it in the strongest possible terms".
Anonymous Saudi officials have told Western media outlets in recent days that Khashoggi's corpse was rolled into a carpet and handed to a "local collaborator" to dispose of.
This came after Saudi Arabia kidnapped Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
