Senator Ed Markey, a Democrat from MA, said the nomination fiasco was an "abysmal definition" of how the system ought to work. Thousands of protestors demonstrated on Capitol Hill as Kavanaugh was sworn in.
Speaking to reporters Monday as he left the White House, Trump said the sex assault claims against Kavanaugh were a "hoax" made up by the Democrats.
Justice Kavanaugh was confirmed by the Senate on Saturday, in a 50-48 vote that followed strictly partisan lines.
Things took an ugly turn in the last few weeks, when three women came forward with allegations that Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted them.
With the partisan divide becoming more glaring on every issue with each passing election, Republicans feel their voters now increasinly view Democrats as opportunists who wanted to milk the Christine Blasey Ford testimony - especially after the way they whined despite the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe finding no corroborating evidence of Ford's claims against Kavanaugh from their high school years more than three decades ago.
Ford testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 27, where she said that during a high-school party in the 1980s, Kavanaugh pinned her down, tried to take off her clothes, and pressed his hand over her mouth to stop her from screaming. All four are women, a first in the Supreme Court's history.

It was not part of the original group of five awards set out in Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel's 1895 will. Nordhaus' model is now widely spread and is used to simulate how the economy and the climate co-evolve.

"It's turned our base on fire", declared Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.
"We have a lot of women that are extremely happy - a tremendous number - because they're thinking of their sons, they're thinking of their husbands and their brothers and their uncles and others and women are, I think, extremely happy", he said. Yet Kavanaugh is joining under a cloud.
"So to Americans, so many millions who are outraged by what happened here, there is one answer: vote".
Two years ago, McConnell blocked a vote on Garland, citing what he said was a tradition of not filling vacancies in a presidential election year.
The pair shared a hug on the Senate floor following the climactic vote.
He said Saturday he thinks Republicans "are going to do incredibly well" in the elections after Kavanaugh's confirmation.
"It's a big day for the country, a big day for the administration and a big day for the Republican Senate", McConnell said. "But what you just said now was it's a question of whether or not the party in control of the Senate is different from the president". There are 100 Senators, two from each state, and Republicans now hold a razor thin majority with 51 seats.
So, for Democrats, such as Rep. Jerrold Nadler of NY, to say that they are going to investigate Kavanaugh for perjury and related issues if the Democrats take the House and/or Senate is not only premature, but a bad mistake, and one that will only redound to the Democrats' detriment.
