Elon Musk's rocket company launched a commercial satellite for Argentina on Sunday evening, marking SpaceX's 17th mission of 2018 in the type of steady success that so far has eluded his electric auto maker Tesla.
Later, SpaceX reported that the SAOCOM 1A radar satellite was placed in its proper pole-to-pole orbit.
In a move that could cut its costs to launch space hardware even further, SpaceX landed a first-stage booster on a pad at California's Vandenberg Air Force Base on Sunday night.
Such sights and sounds are familiar to residents near the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida where SpaceX first landed a Falcon 9 booster in December 2015.
This spaceflight marked the first-ever landing on the solid ground in California and 30th landing in total for Elon Musk's SpaceX out of total 62 launches.
And also, a major light show that was seen all over California just after, including the Central Valley.

The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying an Argentinian satellite blasts off from the Vandenberg Air Force Base launch site.
The satellite launched by Falcon 9 is the first of two for Argentina's space agency, Comision Nacional de Actividades Espaciales.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti cleared up the confusion with stunning photos of the launch on Twitter. If SpaceX is planning to reuse B1048 a third time with SSO-A, that will demand a record-breaking turnaround for the booster, as few as 42 days between landing #2 and launch #3. SAOCOM 1, together with the Italian COSMO-SkyMed X-Band SAR constellation, comprise the Italian-Argentine Satellite System for Emergency Management (SIASGE), a partnership between CONAE and the Italian Space Agency (ASI).
SpaceX said it will launch a satellite on a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg.
The company also confirmed that the satellite had entered low earth orbit.
