The company launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in Southern California. The first stage returned back to the Earth base, landing about 8 minutes after its takeoff. The launch marked the 30th successful landing of a rocket booster, according to the company.
In metro Phoenix, witnesses hit up social media with photos and videos of the peculiar streak of light and ghostlike images they saw. It carries carries a high-resolution synthetic aperture radar to be used for emergency management and land monitoring, The Associated Press reported.
