The White House said then that the president was reviewing clearances of other top officials, but Clinton's name was not on a list the White House released.
Clinton and former chief of staff Cheryl Mills lost their clearances, as did four other Clinton staffers whose names were redacted, according to a letter dated September 21 to the leadership of the Senate Judiciary Committee that was published Friday by Republican Sen.
Clinton's response was referring to Trump's comments at a July 2016 news conference in which he asked Russian Federation to hack Clinton's emails from her time as secretary of State and make them public. "I want to stop the degrading of the rule of law. Should you wish to disclose any portions thereof, we ask that you provide the Department with a reasonable opportunity to inform the Committee of any sensitive information that should be safe-guarded", wrote acting Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs Charles Faulkner.
Politico notes that almost a year ago, "Grassley asked the department to investigate and review whether Clinton's aides still had security clearance".
It's unclear whether Grassley's office did so.
