Hope Hicks, the former communications director of President Donald Trump, has been appointed as communications chief at Fox, the company being spun off from Twenty-First Century Fox's (FOXA.O) merger with Walt Disney Co (DIS.N).
The former model joined Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and was considered one of his most trusted advisors, with broad access to the Oval Office. She went on to work on Trump's transition team before officially joining the White House communications team in January 2017. Trump is an outspoken fan of Fox News, often promoting their programming on his Twitter feed.
Media mogul Rupert Murdoch will retain ownership of Fox, the new spin-off company that includes the cable news network. She resigned from the administration in February, after she admitted to telling white lies in her testimony before the House Intelligence Committee.
