One person was killed in Virginia when the storm spawned about 16 tornadoes there on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The death toll from Florence rose to at least 32 in three states, with 25 fatalities in North Carolina, as remnants of the once-powerful Category 4 hurricane - now reduced to a rainy, windy mass of low pressure - speeded up toward the heavily populated Northeast.
On Monday, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper warned that "for many parts of North Carolina, the danger is still imminent".
The White House said President Donald Trump will visit North Carolina on Wednesday to see the damage. He was criticized for his handling of Hurricane Maria, which devastated Puerto Rico past year, and more recently for disputing the official death toll of 3,000.

The Accountability Court sentenced the imprisonment of 10, 7, and 1 year to Nawaz, Maryam, and Captain Safdar (retd) respectively. Dozens of jubilant supporters chanted "Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif!" outside the court after the decision was announced.

Residents of the Carolinas struggled to return to normalcy on Tuesday after taking a beating from Hurricane Florence, but their efforts were hindered by standing water and additional flooding expected from already swollen rivers. That has disrupted efforts to restore power, clear roads and allow evacuated residents to go home. Flooding has also impacted areas such as Fayetteville and Kinston, where the Neuse River was still rising.
At least one North Carolina dam has breached so far under the strain of Florence's flooding, but officials say no homes were affected.
President Trump said nearly 20,000 military personnel and federal workers were deployed to help with the aftermath of the storm, The Associated Press reported.
Property damage from the storm is expected to come to $17 billion to $22 billion, the risk management firm Moody's Analytics said.

In South Carolina, just south of the North Carolina border, I-95 travels through especially low-lying swamp land, and over the Great Pee Dee and Little Pee Dee rivers. Power outages also were down, from a high of more than 910,000 to about 200,000, almost all in North Carolina.
