The CEO of electric-car maker Tesla and rocket startup SpaceX spent more than two-and-a-half hours Thursday night talking to podcast host Joe Rogan about what it's like inside his head ("a never-ending explosion"), keeping a auto company in business ("very difficult") and trying to get governments to regulate artificial intelligence ("nobody listened").
Elon Musk announced some major executive changes at Tesla, shuffling in a new president to oversee automotive operations, a new Gigafactory vice president in charge of ramping up Model 3 production, and a new duo to lead Tesla's human-resources division.
Rogan found Musk's response dubious.
"I'm getting text messages from friends saying, 'What the hell are you doing smoking weed?'" Musk added after smoking.
Shortly after Rogan lights the blunt, Musk asks "So is that a joint?"
Musk took the already-lit blunt from Rogan and had one puff, but it appears that he did not inhale, meaning he likely did not feel the effects of marijuana.
"Since I joined Tesla on August 6th, the level of public attention placed on the company, as well as the pace within the company, have exceeded my expectations", the company quoted Mr Morton as saying in the filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

It's unusual for a CEO of a public company to smoke weed on camera, but this is just the latest instance of atypical behavior from Musk.
Tesla has told investors it expects to turn a profit in the second half of this year, a forecast the company's head of investor relations, Martin Viecha, reiterated at a conference earlier this week sponsored by RBC Capital Markets, RBC analyst Joseph Spak wrote in a note on Thursday.
If Elon's relaxed attitude is a short-term positive, it is at least balanced out by the departure of chief accounting officer Dave Morton as a potential long-term negative.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla was seen smoking a "blunt", a cigar filled with marijuana, on the Joe Rogan podcast yesterday. They were sitting inside a studio in California, where medical and recreational marijuana use is indeed legal. U.S. regulator the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is investigating whether the tweets may have violated United States securities law, according to a report in August by Fox Business Network, citing sources.
Tesla shares, down just 1 per cent after Musk's appearance on the Rogan podcast overnight, fell another 7 per cent after Morton's resignation to US$262.54.
Tesla was not immediately available for comment. Friday was also slated to be the last day for Sarah O'Brien, Tesla's vice president of communications, whose departure was announced last month.
