The U.N. -backed Radio Okapi reported Sunday that 14 civilians and four soldiers were killed in the attacks Saturday in the Rwenzori community of Beni.
At least 69 deaths have been confirmed and 31 probable since the DRC's ministry of health declared the deadly disease outbreak in North Kivu Province last month, according to September 23 situation report.
One of the armed groups in DRC which pose a threat to civilians and the worldwide response to Ebola, the ADF - Allied Democratic Forces - has sufficient military capacity to ambush blue helmets from the UN'a Stabilization Mission in DRC (MONUSCO) and government forces - the FARDC.
Because of the unrest, the population in Ebola-affected towns are highly migratory, sparking fears that deadly virus could spread further or spill into neighboring Uganda.
Saturday's attack was pinned on the Allied Democratic Forces, an Islamist group, in local media reports, though with dozens of armed militias active in eastern Congo, establishing culpability is hard.
In addition to the known fatalities, dozens of civilians were wounded as they fled the violence, which broke out in the early hours of Saturday evening and lasted until midnight, Bin Hangi added.
"Beni is ungovernable this morning". He said that Beni was the base for the agency's base for the "entire operation".

Congo's east is home to many armed groups vying for control of the mineral-rich region.
The ADF is a militia initially created by Muslim rebels to oppose Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, but also operates in the DRC. It has been accused of killing several hundred civilians over the past three-and-a-half years.
