With the successful landing the MINERVA rovers became the first ever mobile robots to conduct observations on an asteroid.
A third rover called MASCOT will be launched from Hayabusa2 in early October.
Hayabusa-2 reached the Ryugu asteroid in June this year after a three-and-a-half-year journey.
"We don't have confirmation yet, but we are very, very hopeful", project manager Yuichi Tsuda said. The rovers are created to hop along the asteroid's surface, taking photographs and gathering data. The blurry area at upper left was caused by reflected sunlight.
Due to Ryugu's weak gravity, each hop took the rovers 15 metres and 15 minutes to land.
The 2 robotic vehicles were released on Friday, Japan time, after the Hayabusa2 descended from an altitude of 20,000 meters to 55 meters from the asteroid's surface.

Rod Rosenstein expecting to be fired, AP reports
Trump, meanwhile, has been uncharacteristically muted about the NYT report, though he has always been at odds with Rosenstein. Rosenstein's prospective departure throws into question the oversight of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.
In November 2014, the Rosetta mother ship dropped a lander called Philae onto the surface of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, which is about 2.5 miles (4 km) wide.
You'll be waiting a while for the samples to return.
"Both rovers are in good shape", said JAXA. We also confirmed they are moving on the surface. Its chief aim is to explore the surface of the asteroid known as Ryugu, which carries the name of a dragon king's underwater palace in Japanese folklore. Each Minerva II rover is only 18 inches across seven centimeters and weighs 1.1 kilos. One of the images was taken during a hop, and the resulting blur gives the feel of dynamic movement.
"We're glad that the Minerva-II 1 rovers took photos as we had expected", said Tetsuo Yoshimitsu, associate professor at JAXA. "This is just a real charm of deep space exploration", Takashi Kubota, a spokesman for the space agency, told CNN. The main spacecraft will collect a sample to bring to Earth for laboratory analysis.
The spacecraft will leave Ryugu in December 2019 with the intention of returning to Earth with the asteroid samples in 2020.
For the first attempt, Hayabusa2 will approach to within a few feet of Ryugu, fire a small projectile into the soil immediately below and use a horn-like collector to capture dust and small fragments kicked up by the impact.
