Note that this isn't 5G wireless service - that's not arriving until next year when 5G-ready phones are expected to become available. Speaking of which, the number 1 carrier has confirmed that the service will be available to order starting this Thursday, September 13. Verizon 5G Home is only available in Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Sacramento, initially, and only in certain neighborhoods of those four cities. Customers who sign up early will get free installation and equipment as well as their first three months of service for free. Verizon says it will expand 5G broadband internet to additional cities, but didn't provide a time frame. "We developed early standards that allowed the industry and hardware and software manufacturers to build solutions more quickly".
The labs will launch by the end of 2018, and will be kitted out with live 5G networks to help startups, universities, and tech companies to collaborate with Verizon.
