"I do applaud her for considering the words of the national anthem, a lot of people just rattle it off and don't consider the meaning and I also applaud her strength of character to stand up for what she believes in", Today show host Georgie Gardner said yesterday morning.
Harper Nielsen, a student at Kenmore South State School in Brisbane, said that she made a decision to protest against the national anthem, saying it was not inclusive of indigenous Australians, News.com.au reported on Wednesday.
The Courier-Mail newspaper broke the story about Harper and how the school told her she had to stand or leave the building.
The Kenmore South State School principal refused to comment, but in a statement the education department said it had been respectful of Harper's wishes and has provided alternatives to singing the national anthem.
A nine-year-old girl given detention for refusing to stand up and sing Australia's national anthem has drawn heavy criticism and sparked a fierce debate around the country. (9)"Converse colleges teach out certain requirements of behaviour that they question from their college students in their to blame behaviour thought for varsity students", a spokesperson said.
There are also concerns her actions may inspire other students to follow suit. Hanson said. "I'm offended about this..."
"Here we have a kid that has been brainwashed and I tell you what, I would give her a kick up the backside".
"It's disgraceful that any parent would suggest to their child that our national anthem doesn't represent the whole of our nation", Hanson said.
'If it's good enough for Cathy Freeman, Johnathon Thurston, and Warren Mundine to stand for the National anthem, it should be good enough for this nine-year-old brat'.
China says Washington asks to resume talks on tariff fight
Trump said last week that he also had tariffs on an additional $267 billion worth of goods ready "on short notice if I want". The duty on light trucks, which account for about 50 percent of auto sales in the USA , was hardly mentioned before Mr.

Some, such as arch-racist Pauline Hanson have labelled her a "brat", while others accused her of being "brainwashed".
While I agree that Harper's anthem boycott may have been largely in part due to conversations with her parents and a result of her upbringing, the truth of the matter is that Harper's courage should be admired.
While her father, Mark Nielsen, said he and Harper's mum Yvette Miller are "proud" of their "incredibly brave" daughter for standing up for something she believes in.
"And when it says "we are young" it completely disregards the indigenous Australians who were here before us for 50,000 years", the 9-year-old student continued.
"I'm angry about this".
Mr Bleijie's Tweet claimed Harper's protest "disrespects our country and our veterans".
Mark Nielsen, Harper's father, told Nine News his daughter was "very courageous", adding he had met with the school's principal but no agreement had been reached.
What do you think about a 9 year old refusing to stand for the National Anthem in school?
