Another missing feature, Dual SIM support, is not in iOS 12.1 beta 1. It was initially present in the first few beta releases of iOS 12 but Apple pulled it down the line for some unknown reasons. The developer beta softwares can only be downloaded from Apple's site for registered developers.
In its own investigation into iOS 12.1, Apple-tracking site 9to5Mac found a new daemon in iOS called "avatarsd". The updates should be available as over-the-air (OTA) update soon.
Earlier this week, Apple released iOS 12, watchOS 5, and tvOS 12, so naturally, the next day was when we got the first betas for the upcoming "point one" updates. With iOS 12, Apple has placed its focus on under-the-hood stability and performance improvements.
The major change in iOS 12.1 is the return of Group FaceTime. The new software versions were announced in June at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). If you are on iOS however, then you will be welcomed with a new feature which meant missing prior to the final release of iOS 12, which is Group FaceTime calling. Dual-SIM support for iPhone XS Max and iPhone XS will also be released.

Now, though, Troughton-Smith suggests there might be a possibility of the feature coming to new iPads - a first for an Apple device. The new 11-inch tablet and a refreshed version of existing 12.9-inch variant iPad Pros were expected at the company's September 12 event, which did not happen.
Apple hasn't revealed any plans related to its new iPad models.
