Vilma Wong, a nurse at the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, recently crossed paths with Brandon Seminatore, a medical resident at the hospital who's training to be a child neurologist.
"I remember being the primary nurse to a baby with the same last name".
"I kept asking questions, like where he was from and he told me he was from San Jose", she said. "I then got very suspicious because I remember being the primary nurse to a baby with the same last name".
After revealing that his dad was a police officer, both Vilma and Brandon started to connect the dots.
Brandon Seminatore was born at Stanford Children's Hospital at just 29-weeks gestation and was cared for in the NICU nurse Vilma Wong in 1990.
He was shocked she remembered him, especially because she takes care of so many babies in the unit.
Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford shared a special look at Vilma and Brandon all those years ago, and a look at them now.
"I needed an incubator to keep me warm, a ventilator to help me breath, and had near endless pokes and prods to make sure I was healthy and growing appropriately", Seminatore said in the statement.

Piper Perabo Got Arrested Today for Protesting Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court Nomination
If no Democrat ultimately supports the nomination, the Republicans have no margin for error in a Senate they control by 50-49. Kennedy was a solid conservative but sided with the court's liberals on some issues, including abortion and gay rights.
"There was a big silence", Wong said.
Seminatore said, "She cares deeply for her patients, to the point that she was able to remember a patient's name nearly three decades later".
For years until Seminatore was 11 or 12, the family made a point of attending the NICU's annual reunion, which will be held later this month for families whose children were treated there.
"Meeting Vilma was a surreal experience, " he said.
When Brandon's parents found out he was working at the unit, they told him to ask for Vilma and another nurse Kas Pilon, but he felt they had either moved or retired. By that time, he was able to eat on his own and was beginning to thrive, Wong remembered. People reported that Wong had come across a second-year resident tending to a baby in an incubator, and chose to introduce herself and ask his name.
The nurse and doctor took a new photo together in the NICU - this time, Seminatore is a few inches taller than Wong, and he's wearing scrubs instead of a onesie and blanket.
"As a nurse", she said, "it's kind of like your reward".
