Despite the GOP's continued refusal to heed her request for a full FBI investigation into her sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday that she is prepared to testify next week as long as senators "agree on terms that are fair and which ensure her safety".
Prof Ford has accused Judge Kavanaugh of drunkenly pinning her to a bed and trying to remove her clothing at a house party in a Washington DC suburb when they were both teenagers 36 years ago.
And it's really important I think to point out that Ford herself hasn't made it clear whether or not she will or won't show up.
It remains unclear whether Ford will attend or if the hearing will occur without her. Susan Collins has suggested she will vote for Kavanaugh unless Ford testifies.
Meanwhile, CNN reported that committee Chairman Chuck Grassley's deadline of 10 a.m. Friday for Ford to respond to his invitation to testify Monday was flexible. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) to testify Monday. Both Kavanaugh and Ford are invited to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee at a hearing on Monday, but Ford has called for the FBI to investigate the matter before she testifies.
A senior White House official said Kavanaugh and his wife also have received threats.
While she's willing to testify, the letter read, she is concerned that senators "appear to have made up their minds that she is "mistaken" and 'mixed up'". Which meant a vote in the Judiciary Committee would happen.
A restrained Trump said Wednesday he wants to hear what Ford has to say. "They are totally intent on getting Judge Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court come hell or high water ..."

"If she shows up, that would be wonderful". Claire McCaskill is facing a double challenge as she campaigns for re-election in heavily Republican Missouri for a seat that could determine which party controls the Senate. The only people Ford says were present for the alleged assault are Kavanaugh and schoolmate Mike Judge, both of whom say this incident never happened.
