Democrats pressed Brett Kavanaugh, President Donald Trump's U.S. Supreme Court pick, over newly released emails highlighting his views on abortion and race issues on Thursday during his Senate confirmation hearing after a tense partisan fight over the public release of the documents.
"I think he made a very compelling case that he is one of the most qualified nominees, if not the most qualified, that we've seen for the Supreme Court of the United States, and I think I've seen 15 of them", said Republican Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, who oversaw the hearing and has served in the Senate since 1981. Some emails warned Kavanaugh not to distribute talking points from the Democrats on the committee.
"It is becoming increasingly clear that Judge Kavanaugh has misled the Senate Judiciary Committee in a number of ways", Schumer said in a series of tweets Sunday.
