At least 10 people were killed in the city and police say most of the shootings were gang related.
Police said a group of people were gathered in the courtyard of a building on the 1300 block of West 76th Street around 12:30 a.m. when several men approached on foot and fired shots at the crowd.
A teenage girl was killed and five other people, including an 11-year-old boy, were wounded early Sunday in Lawndale neighborhood shooting on the Southwest Side. Last year, Chicago homicide detectives solved just 17.5 percent of murders, the lowest rate since 1990. The shootings occurred on the West Side, where 25 people were shot in separate attacks between midnight and 6:50 a.m., and the South Side, police said.
June marked 15 straight months of fewer killings and shootings, police said. Two gunmen exited a vehicle and shot four people at a party then fled the scene.
