"So in the words of one of the immortal characters he helped create: 'It's time for this Moonves to be eclipsed, '" Bee finished, slipping on a pair of aviator sunglasses.
'The USC School of Cinematic Arts has suspended Les Moonves from its Board of Councilors, ' read a statement released by the University.
"The School takes the recent allegations very seriously and will discuss further action when the Board convenes in October", USC said.
CBS's lack of immediate action against Moonves was a "slap in the face to the fearless women who came forward", said Melissa Silverstein, founder of the blog Women and Hollywood, in a Twitter post, as social media reacted quickly to CBS's announcement.
The fallout was also not only limited to the university's Cinematic Arts program.
The media center was a pledged gift from the couple and CBS in 2015. While many at CBS are shell-shocked by the turn of events and already speculating that Joe Ianniello, Moonves' chief operating officer, is primed to take over - at least temporarily - if the embattled chief exits.
The double-whammy has put the pressure on CBS' board to launch an internal investigation, but as of Wednesday, it has yet to name the law firm that would do it.Читайте также: Suspected spy found in US Embassy in Moscow
USC Annenberg Media posted the news on Twitter: "USC Annenberg has announced that in light of sexual misconduct allegations facing Leslie Moonves, the school will suspend use of the media center's name until the investigation concludes". The piece stated that the media mogul allegedly sexually harassed six women, physically intimidated two of them and threatened their career prospects with the network.
Throughout my time at CBS, we have promoted a culture of respect and opportunity for all employees, and have consistently found success elevating women to top executive positions across our company. "Those were mistakes, and I regret them immensely".
CBS said on Friday it would launch an investigation into the allegations via outside counsel.
At the start of an analysts conference call on CBS earnings that was also broadcast on business television CNBC, the company said it would not take questions about Moonves' reported behavior or its legal battle with majority shareholder Shari Redstone over control of the USA media group.
The board ordered that investigation after a story in the New Yorker magazine last week said that six women have accused Moonves of forced kissing, unwanted sexual advances and career retaliation against women who rebuffed him over a period of at three decades. No charges were filed, but Moonves revealed the existence of the investigation to a board committee, which hired a law firm to investigate, according to the Times, which cited two unnamed people familiar with the matter.
