When asked at this year's Big Ten Media Days, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said he was unaware of a 2015 domestic violence incident involving former Buckeyes wide receiver Zach Smith and his now ex-wife, Courtney.
According to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, police were involved nine times between January 1, 2012, and July 26, 2018.
On his own Facebook post, the former ESPN writer shared texted messages and an interview with Courtney Smith, the ex-wife of Zach Smith, that show both Urban Meyer and his wife Shelley knew about the situation.
Further calls range from threatening to just plain sad.
"Shelley said she was going to have to tell Urban", Courtney Smith told McMurphy. On Jan. 5, 2016, Smith was pulled over for speeding and proceeded to break down in tears, visibly upset over the issues she was having with her husband.
Smith was sacked from Meyer's coaching staff in July after being charged with criminal trespassing for dropping off his children at Courtney Smith's house, which was a violation of their agreement to meet at a public place for safety reasons.
Smith's alleged efforts to intimidate his ex-wife were much more personal than that, however. The next day, Meyer spoke to the assembled media for the annual event in Chicago and denied any knowledge of two 2015 incidents in which the Powell Police Department investigated Zach Smith, but no charges were filed.
"The stalking and harassment never stopped".
"I was never told about anything", Meyer reportedly said, "Never anything came to light, never had a conversation about it".Читайте также: RBI hikes repo rates by 25 basis points
"He would corner me in my laundry while groping me and pulling his trousers down and begging for sex".
At the time, Courtney Smith says that Shelley Meyer told her she planned to speak with her husband, OSU head coach Urban Meyer, about the allegations. "They all did. Every single one".
In 2009, Zach Smith was a graduate assistant on Meyer's coaching staff at the University of Florida.
Smith, who also served as the Buckeyes' recruiting coordinator, played for Meyer when the latter coached at Bowling Green.
She said that she first reached out to the wives of other Ohio State coaches in 2015, following what she says was a violent attack.
Courtney sat down with Stadium to talk about what role Urban Meyer and his wife, Shelley, should have had in intervening.
"[De Fries] said, 'If you don't drop the charges, Zach will never coach again, '" Courtney Smith told McMurphy.
After the couple eventually separated in June, 2015, Zach Smith continued to threaten Courtney Smith via text message, McMurphy reported. No charges were filed in that incident.
"I told Shelley", Courtney Smith told Stadium. I know nothing about it. It came back to me that what was reported wasn't what actually happened. In 2014, Meyer's third year on the sidelines, Ohio State won the College Football Playoff title with a record of 14-1.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
