This week, Musk was said to have received a subpoena for more information, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Tesla fell 2.7 percent to $326.32 as of 8:29 a.m. Sources speaking with the newspaper said his actions also angered board members. A couple of years ago, Tesla approached Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg about the job, Mr Musk told the newspaper, but added that no active search is taking place now "to the best of my knowledge".

Some company directors have expressed concern about Mr Musk's workload, as well as his use of the sedative Ambien, the paper said.

Musk continues to have an unhealthy obsession with short sellers of Tesla's stock. The post also featured a section where he explained what he meant by 'funding secured.' This step was perhaps taken to bring some clarity to his first announcement which led to a lot of speculations and some lawsuits as well.
It is not clear if that investigation will be complemented by one into Mr Hansen's complaint, which alleges that the company - on Mr Musk's direction - surveilled its employees.
Musk said while he's committed to being Tesla's chairman and CEO, he asked the interviewers if they have anyone that could do a better job to "please let me know".
