Brazil great Ronaldo is in intensive care in a hospital on the island of Ibiza.
Local newspaper Diario de Ibiza said the two-time Ballon d'Or holder and 2002 World Cup Golden Boot victor is in the intensive care unit at the private Policlinica Nuestra Senora del Rosario hospital on the Spanish island, after being taken to a public hospital on the island on Friday evening.
Later that night, he requested transfer to the Nuestra Señora del Rosario hospital owned by Policlinica, a private health-care company.
At the time, the Brazilian managed to handle the indisposition humorously with his trademark smile via tweet from his hospital bed saying: "Good morning to all those who began the New Year with dengue".
Staff at Can Misses Hospital said they were unable to give out any information for "data protection reasons".
Sources told Diario de Ibiza that Ronaldo was recovering well.
