On Wednesday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that the February 24, 2019, ceremony will feature a few additions - including a new category celebrating outstanding achievement in popular film.
It's also announced that starting next year and in 2020 the Oscars will feature a "more globally accessible three-hour telecast" and air nearly a month earlier on February 5.
In a statement, the organization revealed the addition of a new category that is being designed around "outstanding achievement in popular film", promising more details and eligibility requirements to come.
If you're a fan of the types of movies that break box office records, you might have more reason to tune into the Oscars soon.
