"Twitter "SHADOW BANNING" prominent Republicans", US President Donald Trump tweeted on Thursday. Now, that the glitch is apparently fixed, we'll see if the Trump administration looks into this, I wouldn't add this to your stack of top action items, however.
Like most of Trump's bold proclamations on the social media network, it is a day behind the news cycle and not entirely accurate.
For months, Republicans have alleged that they are the victims of what they call "shadow banning", meaning their tweets are secretly hidden from users, limiting their reach. In searches from the Twitter homepage Thursday after the changes were said to have taken place, ABC News was able to find the accounts of McDaniel, Meadows and Jordan in the automatically populated drop-down menu before completely typing their full names.
The shadow banning didn't affect all prominent Republicans.
The change cost former President Barack Obama 2 million followers by the morning after the change, while singers Katy Perry and Justin Bieber each lost 3 million, The Washington Post reported, citing analytics company Twitter Counter.
McDaniel responded to the news by declaring that suppression of certain political views "should concern every American" and "Twitter owes the public answers".
"Starting today, all new requests for access to Twitter's standard and premium APIs are required to go through this process", Twitter said. Although Vice was not the first to report on shadow banning, Wednesday's piece ignited a firestorm of complaints against Twitter.

Vladimir Putin 'ready to invite Donald Trump to Russia'
The last time Trump was in the Russian capital was in 2013, to attend a Miss Universe beauty pageant. He has such an invitation, I told him that".
Georgia police officers fired for coin-flip arrest
The officer said she was driving more than 80 miles per hour on a section of wet road that has a maximum speed of 45. As it turns out, Webb didn't even learn about the coin flip until WXIA-TV investigators contacted her.
"Shadow banning" is deliberately making someone's content undiscoverable to everyone except the person who posted it.
A screenshot of a search for "ronna mcdaniel", for instance, shows it yielded three suggested results for women with the same or similar names, but not the RNC chair.
Kayvon Beykpour, Twitter's product lead, denied that the company intentionally targeted conservatives but that it was trying to improve the "health" of conversations on Twitter.
"Enough is enough with this crap", Trump Jr. tweeted. But the company has stressed repeatedly that it applies its policies even-handedly.
Meanwhile, Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey has sought to defuse tensions with conservatives through a series of private gatherings with conservative leaders. But don't tell Trump that.
Twitter has denied secretly banning conservative politicians in the U.S., after an article accused it of political bias. This is a far cry from actual shadow banning.
