Rouhani's apparent warning on July 3 to disrupt oil shipments from neighbouring countries came in reaction to looming United States sanctions and efforts by the administration of President Donald Trump to force all countries to halt purchases of Iranian oil.
"Americans should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace. likewise a war would be the mother of all wars".
"You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran's security and interests", Rouhani said, in an apparent reference to reported efforts by Washington to destabilize Iran's Islamic government.
According to a Reuters report, the usa is trying to foment unrest in Iran to force the government to abandon its nuclear program and support of terror groups.
The Trump administration pulled the United States out of the 2015 nuclear deal early May and has vowed to impose harsh sanctions that it claims could eventually destroy the Iranian economy.
But it has since somewhat eased its stance, saying that it may grant sanction waivers to some allies that are particularly reliant on Iranian supplies.

Its currency has plunged nearly 50 percent in value in the past six months against the USA dollar, prompting a rare strike earlier this month by traders in Tehran's Grand Bazaar.
The strait is not only used by Iranian ships, but also by Gulf countries who rely on safe passage through the narrow chokepoint to export their oil and gas.
