"It is going to meander a bit for the next 24 hours off the Carolina coast, and then it's expected to start heading northeast", Kim Buttrick, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service said.
According to the 5:00 a.m. advisory, the center of Tropical Storm Beryl was located near latitude 13.7 North, longitude 56.0 West. Beryl is moving toward the west-northwest near 20 miles per hour (31 km/h) and this motion with an increase in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days. The hurricane center said the storm was expected to generate swells that would increase in intensity along the North Carolina and mid-Atlantic coasts. Tropical storms can have winds reaching 73 miles per hour.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Beryl - the second named storm of this season - is expected to dump heavy rain over the Lesser Antilles at the end of the weekend.
