It goes on to say that Amazon could introduce a charge for the voice service that would affect Sonos' profits from the One and Beam products, meaning the ball is very much in Amazon's court... something Sonos very bravely admits publicly; "Amazon could begin charging us for this integration which would harm our operating results". "You will also be able to ask any Siri-enabled device to control Apple Music on Sonos speakers ..." For users of Apple Music, now one of the two most popular music-streaming services in the United States, it also allows for a modicum of voice controls, since Amazon's Alexa assistant does not support voice controls for Apple Music on its own. New high-end speakers such as the Sonos Beam rely on cloud service integrations with the tech giants-for example, the Beam uses Amazon Alexa support-while at the same time competing with a ballooning ecosystem of Amazon Echo devices.
As previously noted, AirPlay 2 is only fully supported on the company's Sonos One and Play:5 speakers and its Beam and Playbase soundbars. With your iPhone or iPad, you can tell Siri to, say, play Beats 1 radio in the living room or ask her to turn up the sound.
Enjoy AirPlay 2 on your entire Sonos system.
Sonos' brand-name recognition could help its debut, as well as the success of last fall's successful IPO of Roku, another gadget manufacturer. Sonos' big-sound-in-small-speakers design has won praise, along with loyalty of some users who install them in multiple rooms.

One of the nice things about AirPlay 2 and Sonos is that once you've kicked off music with Siri, you can then use Alexa on your compatible Sonos speakers to control music from there. And, since AirPlay 2 shows up on each iOS device - including what's playing and where - you can still take manual control of a HomePod-initiated stream from your iPhone, to control volume and navigate tracks remotely.
First, you'll need an Apple device with AirPlay 2 support. If you have a HomePod, that should have automatically updated to the latest OS version with AirPlay 2 support back when Apple released it in late May.
The update, which will be free to Sonos customers, can be applied to compatible Sonos speakers using its iOS app. You should be prompted to do that when you next open the controller app on your phone. Over the coming months, Airplay 2 will be enabled on speakers from Bang & Olufsen, Libratone, Denon, and others. AirPlay also lets you unlock sound from a whole selection of content apps and services.
Listen to more of your favorite apps out loud on Sonos. If it has an AirPlay icon, you can stream it on Sonos.
If you want Siri support, meanwhile, there's a final step there.
