Interviews with multiple witnesses and other individuals who claimed to be contacted by Mr. Mueller's team suggest the special counsel's probe is aggressively looking for evidence that would indicate whether persons associated with the president, especially Mr. Stone, a campaign adviser through 2015, colluded with Russian Federation during the race, ABC reported.
Donald Trump was in direct communication during the 2016 presidential election with Roger Stone, a longtime adviser, who is likely the "unnamed person" in the indictments issued Friday morning by Russian Federation investigation Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
However, details of a conversation between Guccifer 2.0 and the unnamed person mirrors messages released publicly by Stone, a conservative political operative with ties to Donald Trump dating back decades.
But in an interview with CNN on Friday, Stone denied that he is the unnamed person in the indictment - even though the content of the quoted messages clearly points to him. "And it's benign. So I don't know that it refers to me".
Mueller's team claimed the Russians posed as Guccifer and "communicated with US persons about the release of stolen documents", though Stone is not named in the 29-page indictment. Stone has argued in the past that the Russian government was not behind the persona.
"As I testified before the House Intelligence Committee under oath, my 24 word exchange with someone on Twitter claiming to be Guccifer 2.0 is benign based on its content, context and timing", Stone said when reached by ABC News late Friday. This exchange is now entirely public and provides no evidence of collaboration or collusion with Guccifer 2.0 or anyone else in the alleged hacking of the DNC emails.
"Roger, I could tell you, always told me that he did not believe that Guccifer was Russian".
"My contact with the campaign in 2016 was Donald Trump".

In an April 2017 interview with The Post, Stone said there was no proof that Guccifer 2.0 was Russia-linked, despite a US intelligence assessment several months earlier that Russian intelligence had orchestrated the hacks.
One of Stone's closest friends, Michael Caputo, a former campaign aide to then-candidate Trump, said in an interview that Mueller appeared to be locking in on Stone and WikiLeaks.
In announcing the indictment Friday, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said that although Americans corresponded with the indicted Russians, in this case, no Americans are accused of having knowingly conspired with Russian intelligence officers. "I was not in regular contact with campaign officials". Roger said no, it was going to be information about the Clinton Foundation.
