Six people have been injured after a part of Road Over Bridge (ROB) collapsed on the railway tracks near Andheri station towards Vile Parle on South end on Tuesday.
A western railway public relation officer reported that part of a road overbridge collapsed on tracks near Andheri Station. "Fire brigade, Mumbai police and ward staff have rushed to the spot", said the official adding no casualty was reported so far.
After the collapse of the Gokhale bridge near Andheri Railway station after heavy Mumbai rains, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will be running 14 extra buses between Borivali to Churchgate to make up for the disruption in the Western railway line.
We hope the debris is cleaned up and train services resume as soon as possible as for a city like Mumbai, its rail system is pretty much the lifeline of its daily activities. The incident which occurred at around 7.30 am today, is said to have been caused by incessant rain. Rescue operations continued to save those trapped under the debris.
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has ordered an inquiry into the incident and directed officials to expedite the fix and traffic restoration work.

Railroad spokesman Ravinder Bhakar said no trains were passing in the area at the time of the collapse around 7:30 a.m.
