After a small tease a few weeks back, Mobvoi has gone ahead and announced the TicWatch Pro, their latest smartwatch with Google's Wear OS.
The TicWatch Pro will be available via Amazon, but, at the time of publication the smartwatch isn't ready for sale just yet.
This is cheaper than a lot of other high-end smartwatches though with Mobvoi specializing in wrist tech that doesn't cost that much money but comes with a premium design. "Ultimately, TicWatch Pro is our flagship smartwatch created to further our mission of bringing anyone and everyone access to affordable, high-quality smart devices". Like other Wear OS smartwatches there's a circular OLED touchscreen for interacting with the Google Assistant, reading notifications, and controlling apps.
Let's start with the screen, because that's by far the most interesting part of the Ticwatch Pro.
Instead of trying to somehow shoehorn a larger battery inside of a reasonably sized watch case, Mobvoi is employing a patent pending Layered Display technology that puts an FSTN (Film compensated Super Twisted Nematic) LCD on top of an OLED display.

Bugatti will charge £4.42 million for each of the 40 Divos that will be made - a heavy premium over the other two models. The Divo is the next step in Bugatti's continuing history of building the most covetable vehicles on the planet.

Turkey Sacks 18500 Employees Including Soldiers, Policemen In New Decree
Tens of thousands of people have been arrested in Turkey in an unprecedented crackdown since the failed coup. Sunday's decree also banned 12 civil-society groups, three newspapers and a television broadcaster.
That second screen is transparent when it's not in use, so you'll only ever be looking at one screen at a time. You'll need to be on WiFi, or have a tethered connection to your smartphone, to get the most from it. At its core, there's a standard 1.39-inch 400×400 OLED display. The bezel and rear cover are stainless steel, with a hard nylon (polyamide) reinforced with glass fiber case. Called the TicWatch Pro, this new watch is a bit more serious, but really impressive sounding considering its price. The skin-friendly silicon strap is covered with a premium grade Italian leather. TicWatch offers two colors, black or silver, but having seen both in person I don't think they'll win any awards for styling.
In all it looks to be going for a classy appearance, rather than a sporty one. Together, the whole thing is IP68 water and dust resistant, which means depths of up to 1.5m for as long as thirty minutes are safe, though the company doesn't recommend swimming with the smartwatch on. The TicWatch Pro still counts your steps and monitors your heart rate; they're shown on the low-power display, and then synchronized with Wear OS when the wearable next powers up into Smart Mode.
The Ticwatch Pro may look like a fashion-led watch, but it comes with a heart rate monitor, Global Positioning System and step tracking skills. But with IP68 water resistance, a leather-coated silicone strap, as well as a heart-rate sensor and Global Positioning System, it's well equipped to cope with your workout routines despite its more businessy looks. What's most important to know about the technology, however, is that it allows the watch to get a whopping 30 days of battery life.
Considering we've now got an official release about the launch in the United States, we don't expect the LTE version of the watch will be coming anytime soon. if at all.
The TicWatch Pro features two displays that allow for two modes and varied battery life. The TicWatch Pro running Wear OS by Google wants to make sure that's not an accusation you can level at it, using a clever twin screen system of stacked panels, one for full functionality, the other for power efficiency.
