"It's something special for me", Lovren told beIN Sports."From my point of view, people were saying I had a hard season but I don't agree with that".
Dejan Lovren has accused his critics of talking "nonsense" after Croatia beat England 2-1 on Wednesday to reach the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup against France. People are crying. It's something historical for us.
And Lovren claims that he should be recognised as one of the world's best after reaching the Champions League final with Liverpool and now the World Cup final against France, which takes place on Sunday.
Last season, Lovren was hauled off after just 31 minutes of Liverpool's 4-1 defeat to Tottenham at Wembley last October, after the defender was at fault for the first two goals.
And he is delighted that this current Croatian generation have finally lived up to, and now surpassed, the standards of the 1998 team which reached the semi-finals.
"This is something we will never forget".

"We have the chance to do something better, and hopefully we can do it on Sunday".
"They had also good chances, but second half we did it much, much better".
But after the break, Croatia took control, equalised through Ivan Perisic and then won the game with Mario Mandzukic's extra-time strike.
However, Lovren believes that his achievements confirm that he is among the world's best players in his position.
He added: "Today everyone in Croatia and around the world knows that we managed to make history".
