Photographers are reflected in the glasses of cast member Harrison Ford during a photocall for the film "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" by US director Steven Spielberg at the 61st Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France, May 18, 2008. That's because Spielberg is in pre-production on a reboot of West Side Story and even looking at directing The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara with Oscar victor Mark Rylance.
The Walt Disney Company also added two previously-announced films to the schedule: Dwayne Johnson's Jungle Cruise for October 11, 2019, and Angelina Jolie's Maleficent 2 for May 29, 2020. The film will likely mark Harrison Ford's final time sporting the hat and whip, with Steven Spielberg hinting that the franchise could move forward with a new actor or actress in the lead role. One of Marvel's upcoming movies, which still remains a mystery, has been moved from July 30, 2021 to February 12, 2021. With Solo having already come out (although maybe they should have saved it for December), the Mouse House will fill its mid-to-late-December slot with whimsy and penguins (not porg-uins): Mary Poppins Returns, the follow-up to 1964's Mary Poppins (it's the longest gap between live-action film sequels ever). That puts it up against Bumblebee and Aquaman, as well as a slew of other Winter releases.
